Wasted spend
Wasted spend is money paid for clicks that did not lead to a sale. Some of it is normal while you gather data. It becomes a problem when the same search terms keep costing you clicks with no orders.
Example
A search term gets 25 clicks at $0.60 each and no orders. You paid $15.00 for it and earned nothing. That $15.00 is wasted spend, and a good candidate to block with a negative keyword.
